Rough Close is a 43-acre campsite and activity centre located 4.5 miles from
The site ranges over 43 acres of ancient natural woodland, which is criss-crossed by tracks and paths. This woodland together with its abundant wildlife make an ideal Scout campsite enjoying the peace and quiet of the countryside whilst being within minutes of the city’s urban civilisation.
The camping areas comprise of 2 large fields, 4 smaller fields and 10 pocket sites. There are currently two basic cabins Cwmwyddus and The Guild for hire with tables, chairs, cookers, fridge/freezers, and sinks.
The Maclean Centre doubles as emergency accommodation should it be needed and an indoor activity hall at other times. There are 2 pools available, one for pond dipping and one for pioneering. Toilets and shower facilities are available with both hot and cold water.
On arrival and departure please report to the Campsite Reception. There is a Providore (tuck shop) on site, a campfire circle, and a “Chapel” a quiet area where members of any faith may hold a "Scouts Own" or enjoy a few moments of quiet contemplation.

The Norton Cabin
The Norton Cabin, is the premier accommodation onsite, has sleeping accommodation for 18 young people in three bunk rooms and 4 adult helpers in two bunk rooms, it has full facilities including a fully fitted kitchen, day room, toilet and shower facilities fully equipped for the less able members. It is centrally heated and equipped with a fire alarm system. Adjacent is "Ma Williams" Cub Field which is associated with the building and can be used for camping and games.
